Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Applying for Accreditation Renewal; Public Comment Period Open

08/19/2016

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) is currently applying for renewal of its accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land wpcTrust Alliance.

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for permanently protecting important natural places and working lands.  As part of the accreditation process, the Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.

WPC, which has been accredited since 2012, takes the rigorous accreditation renewal process seriously.

“It’s an important endorsement that confirms to landowners, members, and funders that we operate in accordance with the highest standards in land conservation and nonprofit oversight management,” said Tom Saunders, WPC president and CEO.

A public comment period is now open, during which the Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how WPC complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. Click here to view a full list of the standards.

To learn more about the accreditation program or to submit a comment, visit the Land Trust Accreditation website or  email comments to info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Comments on the Conservancy’s application will be most useful by November 11, 2016.
