The Slab Cabin Run Initiative, a ClearWater Conservancy project to protect a major source of the State College community’s drinking water, has successfully met its first fundraising goal. The goal of $1.12 million was reached by the target date of December 31. To date, a total of $1.165 million has been raised from Ferguson Township, College Township, State College Borough, Harris Township, and the State College Borough Water Authority. Notable was the Water Authority’s challenge of offering an additional $50,000 for any municipality that contributed more funding than was requested. So far, State College Borough has taken advantage and contributed $10,000 in addition to the $100,000 requested by ClearWater.
Now, ClearWater’s goal is to raise nearly $1 million from local businesses and individuals over the next nine months in order to fully fund the Initiative by September 30, 2017.
