PennFuture welcomes Jacquelyn Bonomo as its Incoming Vice-President/COO

08/14/2015

Statewide environmental advocacy organization, PennFuture, today welcomed Jacquelyn Bonomo, environmental nonprofit management veteran, as its incoming vice president and chief operating officer.

Returning to her home state to lead the day-to-day operations of four regional offices, Bonomo brings experience running environmental organizations large and small. She was most recently the executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Funders Network and previously served as executive director and vice president of the Maryland/D.C. state program of the National Audubon Society, vice president of conservation programs for the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and in various senior capacities with the National Wildlife Federation.

PennFuture President and CEO Larry Schweiger noted that Bonomo not only has a wealth of environmental knowledge, she also has a proven track record of nonprofit management.

“I have had the privilege of working with Jacqui and have seen her ability to generate funding, streamline operations, demonstrate visionary leadership, and refocus organizations to their core mission. She is the right fit to build on PennFuture’s past success and position the organization for the future,” said Schweiger.

Bonomo said, “I look forward to working with CEO Larry Schweiger and the entire PennFuture team to continue the focus on protecting natural resources, promoting clean energy, and ensuring a safe environment for Pennsylvania’s citizens.”

Additionally, Lauren Fraley joins PennFuture as the organization’s director of communications, succeeding Elaine Lablame, who recently became the organization’s strategic campaigns director. Fraley most recently served in a similar role for former state Senator and Representative Matt Smith, who resigned in June to become president of the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce.

“Coupled with recent additions in leadership roles, Jacqui and Lauren’s arrival well positions PennFuture to expand its role as an advocate and protector of the commonwealth’s natural resources,” added Schweiger.

PennFuture is a statewide public interest membership organization founded in 1998 with offices in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre. The organization’s activities include litigating cases before regulatory bodies and in local, state, and federal courts; advocating and advancing legislative action on a state and federal level; public education; and assisting citizens in public advocacy.
