Leopold Conservation Award to Recognize PA Farmer

05/30/2018

The Sand County Foundation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Heinz Endowments, will present the Pennsylvania Leopold Conservation Award and its $10,000 prize to a farmer or forester to recognize voluntary conservation practices on private working lands. The deadline for applications is August 15.

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Rick Ebert said the award is “another occasion to recognize and reward farmers, who are going above and beyond in adopting best management practices on their farms to protect the environment.”

The inaugural award will be presented at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January, 2019, along with the prize and a crystal award depicting Aldo Leopold. Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the award recognizes those who inspire others with their dedication to land, water, and wildlife habitat management on private, working land.

The Pennsylvania Leopold Conservation Award is made possible through the support of platinum sponsor, Heinz Endowments, and the assistance and support of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Center for Dairy Excellence, and Dairymen’s Association.
