Lancaster Farmland Trust raised $165,000 for farmland preservation at its 2017 Annual Dinner and Silent Auction on Tuesday evening. Over 220 attendees joined in the annual celebration.
The “Acres for Auction” event featured three farms in Brecknock Township. The live auction raised over $110,000 to help preserve the three farms. Together they make up 105 acres of rich, fertile agricultural land that will now be permanently protected from development. In addition, there are 24 preserved farms totaling 1,204 acres within a two-mile radius of the properties. Steve Risk, Chairman of the Board of Paul Risk Construction, served as the master of ceremonies for Acres for Auction.
The event also honored owners of preserved farms and supporters who have made a special impact on preservation efforts.
