Lancaster Farmland Trust Raises $150,000 and Saves Two Farms

11/03/2016

Lancaster Farmland Trust raised $150,000 for farmland preservation at its 2016 Annual Dinner and Silent Auction, held on November 1. Over 280 attendees joined in the annual celebration.

The “Acres for Auction” event featured two farms in Clay Township that will be part of a larger protected “greenway” of preserved farms along Route 322. The live auction raised over $90,000 to help preserve the two farms. Together they make up 135 acres of rich, fertile agricultural land that will now be permanently protected from development. In addition, there are 59 preserved farms totaling 3,800 acres within a two-mile radius of the properties. Steve Risk, Chairman of the Board of Paul Risk Construction, served as the master of ceremonies for “Acres for Auction.”

The event also honored owners of preserved farms and supporters who have made a special impact on preservation efforts.
