Responsibilities:
Crew Members construct and maintain stormwater management practices such as rain gardens, manage invasive species, plant trees and maintain tree planting projects, clean streams and perform other watershed protection measures. Crew Members work on a team under the supervision of a Crew Leader. Crew Members are expected to work safely and responsibly and as directed by the Crew Leader.Crew Members receive training on the job, including the specifics of installing and maintaining environmental improvement projects. Crew Members are encouraged to learn why environmental improvements are important, how they work, and where they fit into the larger picture of watershed protection.
Crew Members work 40 hours per week, 7 AM-3 PM, at sites across Howard County. The work hours move to 8 AM-4 PM in the fall. The employment term is 9/6/2016-
12/16/2016 with the potential for re-hire beginning 12/30/2016.
Required:
-Age: 16 years old, minimum
-Howard County resident
-Good health (much of the work involves physical labor such as shoveling, using a pick-axe, and lifting)
-Reliable transportation
Preferred:
-Motivated and hard-working individual
-Outdoor work experience, preferably gardening and/or landscaping.
Compensation:
$10/hr
