Position Details

Looking for a job that combines your love of being outdoors and making a positive environmental impact? If so, consider applying for this new position in a progressive parks & recreation department located in southeastern Pennsylvania. Upper Dublin Township is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Natural Resource Management Parks Foreman within the Parks & Recreation Department.

The position will focus on the management of the Township’s natural resources including its undeveloped open space and waterway corridors. Emphasis will also be placed on forming community support through education and volunteer events. Approximately 50% of the Township’s parks and open spaces are undeveloped passive recreation and natural resource areas. This includes Twining Valley Park, a property whose use has recently been converted from golf course to park and is it at the beginning stages of naturalization.

A successful candidate for this position would possess skills and experiences such as:

  • Planning for and management of multifaceted projects in a natural park setting
  • Native and non-native plant identification and experience planting and/or removing these plants
  • Land restoration project supervision
  • Labor management
  • Volunteer coordination
    Soliciting and supervising third-party contractors
  • Identifying challenges and seeking out cost-effective and efficient solutions
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement
  • Possess strong communication skills

In attention to daily tasks like those described above, there is an expectation that the candidate will assist during weather related emergencies including snow, flooding and/or down tree events.

Candidates for this position must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent, while a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates should also have field experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. Candidates should also possess a Pennsylvania CDL and PA Pesticide License or have the ability to obtain both within 18 months of employment. A general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.

Other Information

There is a three (3) month probationary period for this position.

Starting salary is $68,000 to $72,000 with an excellent benefits package.
