For the past 60-plus years, the mission of Natural Lands Trust (NLT) has been to protect the forests, fields, wetlands, and streams that are essential to the sustainability and quality of life in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. NLT now manages nearly 22,000 acres of natural areas in the Philadelphia region, and protects lands using conservation easements and community planning.
The Land Protection Project Manager will join the NLT Land Protection team of the Conservation Services Department engaged primarily in land and easement acquisitions. S/He will serve as a key project assistant to senior land protection staff and will complete portions of each project as assigned. Additional duties include monitoring of conservation easements, grant program administration and conservation planning. The LPPM will assist with grant and report writing and compilation, GPS data collection, plant identification, ArcGIS mapping and meeting logistics.
NLT seeks to add a self-starting individual who has a passion for land conservation and for providing quality service to a wide variety of internal and external clients and partners. At a minimum, the successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ecology/biology, planning/landscape architecture, or a related field, with 3-5 years of work experience in land conservation and/or planning, experience using ArcGIS Desktop software and GPS field work are desired. Microsoft Office programs will be essential. The LPPM must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Skills in the use of Photoshop, CAD and/or SketchUp as well as a working knowledge of common mid-Atlantic plant assemblages will be a plus.
