Lancaster Farmland Trust is seeking a Land Preservation Assistant for the organization’s Land Preservation department. Lancaster Farmland Trust (LFT) is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and stewarding Lancaster County’s productive farmland. LFT has preserved over 475 farms and over 29,000 acres. The Land Preservation Assistant’s primary job responsibilities entail annual monitoring of conservation easements, as well as preparation of baseline documentation reports and ongoing maintenance of records as part of the organization’s stewardship responsibilities.
The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software (ArcGIS 10). The candidate should also possess a valid driver’s license, physically be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions in difficult terrain, bring energy and enthusiasm to the position, and be capable of working independently and as a member of a team.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in geography, natural resource management, environmental science, or related field. The position is ideal for candidates with up to 3 years’ experience. Agricultural or farm experience is preferred.
