This position involves establishing a GIS database of conserved lands in Pennsylvania, developing a system to ensure that newly conserved lands are added to the database, making the information easily accessible to conservation organizations, planners, county and municipal entities and the public; and providing analysis and analytical tools to these potential users for use in their planning and decision-making.
This position arises from the shared interest of the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association (PALTA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) in establishing a resource that will shed light on conservation activities and facilitate strategic conservation action. The GIS specialist works closely with a team of DCNR staff and reports directly to the executive director of PALTA. The position will be located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The position offers a salary of $40,000 to $48,000 and excellent benefits. It is a full-time position but may be tailored to fewer hours if desired by a strong candidate.
