Wildlands Conservancy seeks a motivated, innovative, community-focused candidate to join its growing Development and Communications team as its Director of Development. Under the direction of the Vice President of Development and Communications, the Director of Development is responsible for the planning, implementation and oversight of the organization’s fundraising efforts specifically Annual Fund, which secures significant unrestricted financial support from foundations, government, corporations and individuals through direct mail, personal solicitation and special events to achieve the organization’s broad conservation and education goals. Primary responsibilities also include the management of the organization’s grants, stewardship and volunteer programs.

The nonprofit land trust is embarking on new, exciting initiatives including implementing the organization’s new central database and commencing a capital campaign. These programs, along with the opportunity to build your own team, will support the Director of Development in achieving financial and strategic goals for the organization’s fundraising efforts.

The applicant should hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public administration or a related field, have 5 to 10 years of specific fundraising experience in a position of comparable responsibility, CFRE or ACFRE preferred; have extensive management experience; have expert knowledge of major-gifts giving; be able to demonstrate success in obtaining major gifts and in building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporations; have a working knowledge and effective understanding of at least the basics of planned giving and estate giving, superb communication and presentation skills; ability to work with a broad based constituency; ability to design, implement and direct multiple projects; and ability to think strategically.
