Founded in 1967, French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust exists to preserve, steward, and connect people to the land in northern Chester County. We have permanently protected 12,866 acres, conduct annual monitoring, and defend our preserved lands. We own and operate the Thomas P. Bentley Nature Preserve, attend community events throughout the region and have a series of monthly activities and a speaker’s series. The successful Communications and Development Director will be a person with a mature commitment to conservation, capable of representing the mission of French & Pickering with integrity. Working under the general supervision of the Executive Director, this individual will lead a comprehensive fundraising program to meet the organizations gift income needs and effectively communicate accomplishments and opportunities. Qualities Required: Ability and desire to play a leadership role elevating the visibility of French & Pickering and establishing the organization as the local conservation leader; self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team; able to connect with current partners and a diverse base of potential supporters; able to represent French & Pickering positively in all public interactions; and able to handle multiple priorities while giving attention to quality and detail. Skills Required: excellent oral and written communication skills and a thoughtful listener; proficient with Word, Excel, Word Press, Constant Contact, and DonorPerfect Fundraising Software; able to manage time efficiently and handle multiple priorities producing quality work; attention to detail; strong organizational skills; experience in resource development Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years progressively responsible experience including five years of experience with individual and foundation fundraising, member service, communications, public relations, and program development in a nonprofit organization and at least 3 years’ experience in a leadership capacity. Reports To: Executive Director Hours: Full time, Exempt Position. Phoenixville Office Position Summary: Serve as the chief communications and development officer, creating initiatives and strategies to meet the immediate and long-range communication needs and funding goals of the organization. Physical Requirements: Position requires hiking hills and walking uneven terrain in addition to reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling for placement and setup of event support items up to 35 pounds (tables, chairs, signs, displays, etc.). Ability to travel throughout northern Chester County and possibly beyond. Responsibilities: A position description is available upon request. Salary: Based on skills and experience.
