Responsibilities
The Conservation Projects Coordinator develops, manages and advances conservation projects in ClearWater’s land and water resources programs in collaboration with ClearWater’s Habitat Stewardship Biologist and Land Conservation Manager. As an ambassador of ClearWater Conservancy to cultivate, promote and maintain working relationships with staff, private landowners, volunteers, public agencies, public and private conservation organizations, local, state and federal government agencies, contractors, foundations and private donors.
The Conservation Projects Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and will manage subcontractors and coordinate with partners and volunteers.

Program priorities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● In collaboration with the ClearWater conservation team, create and implement strategy for stream restoration aimed at improving water quality in key watersheds in our service area.
● Obtain and manage bulk of funding for ClearWater’s Riparian Conservation Program, including grant proposals and reports.
● Successfully implement and complete the scope of work for existing riparian stream buffers projects, resulting in the reduction of sediment and nutrient pollution in the Centre region Spring, Spruce, Little Fishing, Upper Penn’s and Shaver’s Creek and other watersheds.
● Prioritize and advance conservation planning on farms and other properties to restore stream buffers and enhance habitat in order to improve ecological health of land and water resources.
● Help prioritize and implement regional approaches to meet the MS4 Chesapeake Bay Pollution Reduction Plans.
● Identify and implement riparian conservation priorities and appropriate strategies for the protection of land and water resources. Coordinate priorities within the organization and externally with local, state and regional conservation initiatives and professionals.
● Seek out and develop relationships with landowners and plan riparian projects with landowners, partners and ClearWater Staff.
● Develop proposals, budgets, grant funding applications and reports which support land and water conservation projects.
● Manage and track existing conservation projects, including creating and maintaining grant records for each project.
● Collaborate with conservation partners to pursue strategies and projects consistent with CWC priorities and its strategic plan.
● Contribute to and participate in outreach activities as needed.
● Assist with overall efforts to promote and sustain the organization including occasional work in support of membership outreach and fundraising.
● Work closely with staff, volunteers and board in support of conservation projects and to foster a welcoming and respected community institution.
● Keep current on aspects of CWC’s programs and strategic priorities.
● Other priorities as outlined by the Executive Director.
 
Working Conditions/Physical Conditions
The Conservation Projects Coordinator will be required to perform a wide array of physically demanding tasks, such as hiking on uneven ground for long periods of time, working outside in inclement weather and carrying tools to project sites.  The position involves occasional evening meetings and occasional weekend commitments.  Time will be divided between field and office.  Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.

Professional Qualifications
Background in project management in the natural resources and agricultural BMP’s is a must. A commitment to serving the greater public interest through conservation is a must. Working knowledge of the principals of conservation biology and project management experience with landscape-level conservation planning and initiatives is a plus. Desire highly developed organizational and time management skills along with excellent grant writing and project management skills. Must be focused and possess superior attention to detail and the desire to build consensus on collaborative projects. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive skillsets are essential.

The ideal candidate must have demonstrated success as a project manager, be a team player and strategic thinker. Ability to multi-task and provide strategic decision making in a team setting. Must be able to work in a small office setting under pressure with good humor and grace. Candidate must have a valid PA driver’s license, clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle for transportation to and from work, meetings and events.
