SUPERVISOR: Director of Development

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Willistown Conservation Trust is seeking a candidate for the full-time position of Associate Director of Development (ADD). With more than 7,200 acres already conserved, the Trust is actively working to protect remaining open space in the Willistown area while also engaging members from the community and beyond through its vibrant Community Farm, Bird Conservation, Watershed and Habitat Restoration programs. Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the ADD’s primary responsibilities are to manage and grow the Annual Fund, process all gifts, and oversee the use and management of the DonorPerfect database. Other responsibilities include working with the Director of Development to develop major gift prospects, expand the planned giving program, and assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, and community outreach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ADD is tasked with achieving specific Annual Fund goals through the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual donors and private foundations. The ADD also assists with the planning and execution of fundraising and community outreach events. Specific responsibilities include:

Record all gifts in DonorPerfect and oversee timely acknowledgment;
Serve as the primary user of DonorPerfect by updating, managing and troubleshooting mailing/distribution lists and donor database;
Write, edit and produce bi-annual Annual Fund letters and other supporting materials for the Annual Fund and coordinate mailings of such materials with communications staff;
Help plan and execute the Trust’s annual recognition events for major donors and other fundraising events;
With the Director of Development, determine annual fundraising calendar, including schedule of mailings, publications and events;
Develop, maintain, and provide analyses and reports on Annual Fund fundraising efforts;
Manage, solicit, and steward a portfolio of $1,500 “Sycamore Society” donors;
Identify and cultivate prospective donors to expand the Trust’s constituent base;
Assist the Director of Development with grant research, proposal writing, and submission;
Work with the Director of Development to cultivate and secure Major and Planned gifts;
Assist with planning special events and implementing strategies that broaden community awareness of the Trust and its programs;
Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with fundraising and outreach efforts;
QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, or equivalent
Proficiency with DonorPerfect and Microsoft Office Suite
Non-profit experience a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience preparing fundraising materials, including solicitation and acknowledgement letters, grant applications, newsletters and other fundraising/communication pieces
Experience working closely with staff and volunteers
Personal

Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Ability to both lead and work collaboratively in a flexible, team environment
Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, thoroughness and attention to detail
Enthusiasm and passion for the Trust mission a plus
Hours: Approximately 40 hours/week (occasional weekday and weekend evenings)
