Development Assistance for Pennsylvania Land Trusts

03/30/2020

Pennsylvania Land Trust Association is pleased to offer fundraising and membership development assistance to Pennsylvania land trusts. Organization staff and volunteers are welcome to reach out to Sara Painter, PALTA’s director of outreach and development, at spainter@conserveland.org at any time with questions regarding their land trust’s membership development and fundraising efforts. Sara can also provide deeper, focused assistance to organizations that are seeking to:

1. Create a development plan
2. Boost and retain membership
3. Determine if and how to hold a fundraiser/gala
4. Improve an annual appeal
5. Craft a grant boilerplate

For this more intense assistance, please send a concise one-page letter to Sara at spainter@conserveland.org that describes your organization’s need and anticipated time frame for requested services. Requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that only a limited number of requests can be accommodated per year.

To qualify as a candidate for support, applicants must have a conservation mission, IRS 501(c)(3) determination, and an active board of directors. PALTA staff will typically dedicate 40 hours in support of an organization’s request. Before PALTA initiates assistance, a requesting organization will be asked to provide a nominal contribution of $150-$250 in support of the effort, and to certify that their board of directors has approved the assistance.
