Chestnut Hill Conservancy Welcomes New Board President

03/03/2017

In March, Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Society welcomed Eileen Javers as new board president.

“This is a wonderful time for the Chestnut Hill Conservancy,” said Javers. “We have an expanding, energized, and engaged membership whose support is allowing us to continue to honor our commitment to the preservation of architecture, expanding and caring for our historical archives, and conserving green space within the Wissahickon watershed. I am excited to be working with this dedicated membership to move our efforts into the next 50 years.”

Javers retired as senior vice president of the Global Response Team for Right Management, a division of Manpower, Inc. Working with businesses in more than 52 countries, she developed solutions to handle downsizing of personnel in accordance with local labor laws and customs. These solutions included career coaching, job search strategies, and recruitment forums for individuals in Right’s local offices and in Right-operated career centers that served up to 2,000 former employees. She also helped design and implement worldwide corporate programs for executive assessment, leadership development, and talent management.

Prior to Right Management, Javers was a career counselor at Options for Women, the groundbreaking organization which provides career services focused on the specific needs of women. Later, she was appointed associate director of the Career Services department at Temple University, responsible for the redesign and expansion of the career-recruiting program for graduating seniors and MBA students. Eileen served as executive director of Chestnut Hill Hospital’s Main Street Fair from 1986 to 1989.

Javers’ volunteer activities have included membership on the boards of Jobs for Youth, 60 East 96th Street Cooperative, and the Chestnut Hill Community Association, among others. She received a B.A in Psychology and Economics from West Chester University and a M.A in Counseling from Villanova University.
