Bryn Coed Preserve Now Open to Public

12/21/2018

Just a year-and-a-half ago, Natural Lands purchased a 1,505-acre property in northern Chester Springs known as Bryn Coed Farms, one of the largest remaining unprotected swaths of land in the region. Now, the Bryn Coed Preserve is open to the public.

Partners at the state, county, and municipal levels, as well as the William Penn Foundation, provided financial support for the acquisition. The $5 million Campaign for Bryn Coed Farms—which generated contributions from over 700 households—netted the additional funding necessary to establish the new 520-acre nature preserve there.

Preserve Manager Darin Groff—along with other members of Natural Lands’ stewardship team and volunteer helpers—has worked for many months to create eight miles of hiking trails, built bridges over streams, cleared countless invasive plants, and installed wayfinding signage.

Directions to parking and a trail map are available on the Natural Lands website. And check out the Bryn Coed Preserve Facebook page so you can share your photos and stay up-to-date on additional trail openings, parking locations, and events!
