How did your Congressperson vote regarding federal condemnation zones?

Untitled Page

In a vote of 175-256, the Hinchey/Wolf amendment failed in the US House on 6/20/07. The amendment would have cut off funding to the US Department of Energy for establishing federal condemnation zones, euphemistically called “National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors”, to allow study and deliberation.

Although the amendment did not pass, this issue is gaining the attention of a growing number of Governors, state legislators, nonprofit organizations, and of course, regular citizens. Congress will face this issue again.

Below is a list of organizations who have expressed concern about federal condemnation zones:

These Governors listed below have sent letters expressing tremendous concerns about the Department of Energy’s implementation of National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor designations.

The Governor of New Jersey
The Governor of Pennsylvania
The Governor of Virginia
The Governor of New York
The Governor of Connecticut
New England Governors

Over 80 groups listed below have expressed concern as well. It is important that we get the process of NIETC designation right the first time, instead of unnecessarily putting millions of citizens and valuable resources at risk by large-scale transmission lines. Vote ‘yes’ on the Hinchey/Wolf amendment.
