North Branch Land Trust honored its volunteers and announced its 2015 Volunteer of the Year at a recent dinner held at Sabatini’s Beer Bar. Tina Fiorani was the recipient of this year’s award for her dedicated volunteer efforts at the George & Lillian Picton Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as leading hikes for Land Trust members and for serving on several NBLT committees including the Land Management Committee.
Tina is a diligent steward of the land and a champion of land conservation. In her words, “she loves to get lost in nature and feel a deep and honest connection to the land”. In addition to volunteering for North Branch Land Trust, she also volunteers for Natural Lands Trust and the Lacawac Sanctuary.
In appreciation for their volunteers, NBLT treated them to an amazing presentation by Bill Streeter of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center. Bill taught about raptors and exhibited, up close and personal, several of his resident raptors including Mortimer, a 3-ounce Saw-whet Owl and Juliette, a 14-pound Golden Eagle. Also shown were a Peregrine Falcon, a Red Tail Hawk, a Great Horned Owl, and an American Kestrel.
