Northeast Program Manager, Land Trust Alliance
Location: Saratoga Springs, NY; or within a two hour drive
Deadline: April 20, 2018

The Land Trust Alliance (the Alliance) is a national conservation organization whose mission is to save the places people need and love by strengthening land conservation across America. The Northeast Program Manager position (NEPM) offers an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in the land conservation community in New York and New England.

The successful candidate must have working knowledge or experience working with land trusts and the ability to build and sustain close, working relationships with the Alliance’s land trust members. Working in ME, NH, VT, MA, RI and NY the NEPM is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, including training and technical assistance programs for various levels of organizational sophistication to help land trusts, especially small and all-volunteer land trusts, build stronger organizations.

The NEPM activities will include providing direct services for land trust staff and boards of directors that may focus on issues such as organizational development, collaboration and merger, risk management, climate change, community conservation and implementing Land Trust Standards and Practices. Coordinating and collaborating with our state land trust association partners is vital to the success of this position.

In addition, the NEPM will lead or assist with other staff and experts on specific training programs. This includes participating in and leading trainings at state land trust conferences, providing support with the planning and implementation of the annual NY Land Trust Symposium and developing new trainings/webinars that reflect known training needs in the land trust community.

The NEPM will assist with fundraising, coordinating internal and external communications, supporting the Regional Director in managing relevant grants and budgets and representing the Alliance at select conferences, state land trust meetings, land trust gatherings and other venues as warranted.

Importantly the NEPM will work closely with the Alliance’s New York Program Manager coordinating program delivery in New York. The program delivery time of the position is approximately 40% focused on NY efforts and 40% on New England efforts. The remainder of the time is focused on grant administration, fundraising, and operations support.
