The Lancaster County Conservancy has focused on land and waterway conservation in South-Central PA for nearly 50 years, and seeks a mission minded, environmentally-conscientious individual to help continue this tradition.

As the sole internal accounting position overseeing a 1.6 million dollar budget, the Director of Finance and Administration will report directly to the CEO. This role will include day to day accounting duties like payroll, A/P, A/R, as well as preparing accurate a timely financial statements. Management of short and long term investments, bank relationships and cash flow will also be a regular part of this job. Due to the nature of our work, grant and expense tracking as well as restricted fund management will be required.

This position is counted on to advise the board and senior management team on all finance matters. They are the main liaison for the external auditors and other professional service providers. They also will play an operational role managing insurance and benefits, technology, lease agreements, and will have some property management responsibilities.

A minimum of a four year degree in accounting or finance, and 4-7 years of industry experience, including fund accounting are required. Expertise in mid-tier accounting packages and report writing tools will be needed, with knowledge of Peachtree/Sage 50 and SalesForce would be very valuable.

The work environment is one where hard work and honest feedback amongst team members is the norm. While interaction takes places with co-workers, it is expected that this level of position will direct their own work efforts without the need for significant oversight. While some intermittent travel may be required, the large majority of the work week will be spent at the headquarters location.

The Conservancy provides a competitive compensation package commensurate with the criticality of this role, which includes healthcare benefits, paid time off, and 403b opportunities. Flexible work hours and also flexibility in total work hours could be possible for the right candidate. If you are interested in building a career with great people, in a great place to live and work, please send resume to recruiting@macpas.com!
